Overview

Basics

Basics
FlyTahoe, America’s first electric flying ferry, will halve travel times for the 20,000 daily drivers between North and South Tahoe. By providing a cleaner, faster alternative to driving, our silent cross-lake service not only reduces traffic congestion and automobile dependency but also eliminates emissions and road sediment, preserving Lake Tahoe’s clarity while better linking Tahoe’s communities. See it in action at flytahoe.com. With 10x operational efficiency gains from electric hydrofoils, we're unlocking profitability while making flying across Lake Tahoe cheaper than driving around it. By flying above the waves with no wake, FlyTahoe causes no seasickness or shoreline erosion.

Threshold Categories

  • FlyTahoe’s electric propulsion has zero emissions, directly improving air quality by eliminating pollutants like carbon monoxide and particulates. This shift from road to lake reduces the number of vehicles on Tahoe’s roads, further decreasing air pollution and particulates and enhancing visibility across the region.
  • By offering a faster and more efficient travel option across Lake Tahoe, FlyTahoe enhances recreational access and experience. It connects communities and popular destinations with minimal environmental impact, preserving natural areas and maintaining recreational quality.
  • FlyTahoe reduces dependence on automobiles, vehicle miles traveled, and traffic congestion by offering a sustainable and efficient alternative, supporting greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. The service boosts socio-economic mobility by linking North and South Tahoe year-round, connecting communities to jobs, education, and recreation. Accommodating wheelchairs, bikes, and skis, FlyTahoe fosters equity and sustainability. Its zero-emission, wake-free operation protects Tahoe’s clarity and enhances community connectivity.
  • Ferry service will improve lake clarity by decreasing fine sediment run-off due to private car use.
