Overview

Basics

Basics
The project provides three years of funding to support NTFPD in improving it's Fire Adapted Communities program and in planning for fuels reduction and forest health treatments necessary in restoring and maintaining fire resilient landscapes. The project allows for a full-time primary support person for Fire Adapted Communities, it provides improvements in transportation for defensible space inspections, and it provides for training to support fuels management and Fire Adapted Communities. The project also provides funding to cover cultural and environmental surveys that are needed in planning high priority fuels reduction and forest health projects within the jurisdiction of NTFPD.

Notes

Notes
01/13/2025 8:10 PM April Shackelford North Tahoe Fire is excited and grateful for this funding provided by the Ca Tahoe Conservancy. As Fire Adapted Communities and Firewise programs continue to grow, we can better ensure fire district support for these programs and all of our 26 Firewise sites. We are busy with planning for fuels reduction treatments that require archeological and sensitive species surveys. We can now utilize this funding for that purpose as we work towards implementation with a different funding source. The addition of electric vehicles to our fleet for the summer helps to reduce GHG emissions while we perform thousands of defensible inspections year each.
