This project will capture the State of Nevada Upland TMDL Road Management Program progress. This project will only report TMDL performance measures and will not include expenditure data. Expenditure data will be reported on a project-level with individual projects reporting expenditures for that specific project. Notes

Notes
11/19/2021 3:38 PM Christopher LaCasse Miles of roads maintained: 0.38 miles of waterbar improvements and outlet clearing was completed in the North Canyon watershed by NDF personnel.

Disturbed areas restored, enhanced, or created: Site preparation was completed on 0.5 acre at the Spooner Landscape Resilience Project site, 36% of the site area of 1.4 acres. Work entailed cleaning up excess woody debris, chips, and logging slash, uncovering buried vegetation, leveling mounds of dirt, and raking the surface for natural, native plant seeding - primarily bitterbrush, mountain big sage, Jeffrey pine and wax currant. All the landing slash was piled for burning in 2021.
01/14/2020 11:28 AM Christopher LaCasse Miles of roads maintained: 0.51 miles of waterbar maintenance was completed in the North Canyon watershed by NDF crews, and 0.13 miles of waterbar maintenance was completed by NDSP employees and volunteers. A 10 sq. foot sinkhole draining from North Canyon road into streambed approximately 3 miles up North Canyon was filled in by NDSP maintenance staff.

Disturbed areas restored, enhanced, or created: Restoration work continued on the 1.4 acre log landing utilized during implementation of the Spooner Landscape Resilience Project.  Vegetation which includes conifer seedlings, annual forbs, perennial forbs, annual and perennial grasses, brush species (mountain big sagebrush, wax current, green leaf manzanita, rabbit brush, tobacco brush, mountain white thorn,) was established on 65% of the area and survived through the summer and fall period.  The area without plants will be surveyed this spring for new germinants and if plants are absent it will be seeded or plants transplanted into the area. The area was signed, informing recreationists of rehabilitation; additionally, area adjacent to Spooner cabin access road was fenced off to prevent foot traffic on rehabilitating area. Fence will be removed next year. At the North Canyon and Spooner Cabin road intersection, approximately 300 sq. ft. of road was rehabilitated after road-widening to allow access for heavy equipment.
01/03/2019 9:58 AM Meredith Gosejohan Miles of roads maintained: At Spooner in LTNSP, 0,43 mi of waterbar maintenance was completed on the road spur north out of the south landing and 0.2 mi of waterbars were installed on Spooner cabin access road.

Disturbed areas restored, enhanced or created: At Spooner in LTNSP, 1.4 acres of a previous landing were disturbed by operations during the Spooner Landscape Resilience Project. BMPS were installed (area was enhanced) in 2018 and rehabilitation work will continue in 2019. The landing access temporary road is included in the acreage total.
01/10/2018 10:44 AM Elizabeth Kingsland There was some late season road repair on North Canyon Road by NDSP. They imported 4 yards of native soil/DG to repair a developing gully just north of the saddle. They built 1 new waterbar during the repair and cleaned/repaired a number of others (9). Seasonal staff cleaned and repaired waterbars throughout the park including Marlette to Hobard.
02/29/2016 9:51 AM Elizabeth Kingsland In calendar year 2015, water bars were implemented on North Canyon road from the South to West Landing (1,400') and near the top of the ridge (2,500'). Also on Tunnel Creek Road, 800' of road was implemented with water bars (from the intersection to SR28).
04/15/2015 11:03 AM Elizabeth Kingsland In calendar year 2014, road maintenance occurred on North Canyon road.
