Basics
Tons of Greenhouse Gases Reduced
Outcome
Project
Ton (tons)
Tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e) either sequestered or avoided due to implementation of projects in the Tahoe Basin. Projects include compact development, alternative transportation and forest management. Mitigating atmospheric GHGs works to lessen the impacts of climate change, which in turn improves human and ecosystem health, protects infrastructure and public safety, and supports the local economy. Having a quantified understanding of emission reductions within the Tahoe Basin also helps local agencies more efficiently comply with applicable policy initiatives.
